What are the best markets in Guardamar?

May 21, 2018

Guardamar del Segura has a range of markets selling almost everything. So what are the best ones to visit when you are in the area and what should you know about them?

We have set out the top three markets in Guardamar so you can choose which one is right for you!

1. Wednesday Traditional Street Market

This traditionally Spanish street market is an integral part of Guardamar's culture and is well attended every week.

When is the market on?

The market takes place every Wednesday throughout the whole year. The market starts at 7 AM and stays open until around 1 PM.

Where is the market?

The market is located towards the top of Guardamar town center and runs through all of the roads in the area.

The location of the market can be found here. Alternatively, more information can be found on our 'Things To Do' page here.

What items are for sale at the market?

The market has an excellent range of things for sale for both tourists as well as locals. The market is well known for there fresh selection of fruit and vegetables. You will often see local residents bartering with the store owners over the best deals for their fresh produce.

Alongside the fresh produce there is a wide variety of clothing, shoes, toys, and typical tourist merchandise.

What does AGT Guardamar recommend you do when there?

One of our favorite things to do when attending the market is to get some Churros which is a fried dough pastry like a doghnut which can be dunked in chocolate. These can be picked up for as little as €2 and taken round the market with yourself.

Another great thing to do is grab a coffee just outside the main market zones, relax, and take in the atmosphere. AGT recommends Movellan which has an excellent range of coffee's and breakfast and can be found here.

2. Lemon Tree Market

The Lemon tree or Lemon Grove market is unsurprisingly named after the natural lemon tree's that grow in Guardamar and surround the market.

When is the market on?

The market takes place every Sunday throughout the year. The market starts at 9 AM and closes at 2 PM.

Where is the market?

The market is located just outside of Guardamar town centre towards Los Montesinos. There is plenties of parking at the market and is very convenient to get to by car from Guardamar taking only around 10 minutes.

The location of the market can be found here. Alternatively, more information can be found on our 'Things To Do' page here.

What items are for sale at the market?

The market has a very large range of products on sale with over 400 stalls in peak months. Products ranging from fruit and vegetables, right up to goldfish are for sale at this market.

The market is popular with locals as well as tourists and has a selection of foods and drinks available.

3. Guardamar Night Street Market

A less traditional more tourist focussed market is the Guardamar night street market. The market has been around for many years and the stalls are situated in wooden huts instead of tents.

When is the market on?

The market is on every night from 6 PM to midnight. The market is on all year round but you can expect to see some of the market stalls shut throughout the off-peak seasons.

Where is the market?

The market is located in the centre of Guardamar and starts down by the sea front and runs along Centra a La Playa road that comes up from Playa Babilionia. The market is also situated right next to the popular kids fun fair which is next to Reina Sofia Park.

The location of the market can be found here. Alternatively, more information can be found on our 'Things To Do' page here.

What items are for sale at the market?

The market sells predominantly tourist items. The item has some great art and jewellery. Some of the items are more expensive at this market compared to the other two markets.

What does AGT recommend you do when you are there?

A Guide to Guardamar recommends you stop off mid way up the market to get a cocktail and some tapas at Terraza Sotavento. The bar is surrounded by mosaic walls and is right in the middle of the market so gives a great atmosphere.
